Back 4 Blood is the newest multiplayer co-op sensation, and one of the best things about it is its crossplay capabilities which allow you to play with friends from across different gaming platforms. The spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, B4B recently entered its Open Beta phase, meaning that a whole influx of new players have now gotten the chance to play the game. Naturally, one of the biggest selling points of games such as this is that you can play it with your friends. Our Back 4 Blood How To Play With Friends, Multiplayer & Crossplay guide will explain everything concerning how to add friends – both on your own gaming device, as well as cross-platform.
You can invite and add your friends to Back 4 Blood in several quick and easy steps:
- To begin with, you will need to go into the Social Tab in your game menu.
- In here, you will be able to see the following: B4B friends, Steam friends, Party, Recent and Blocked.
- Depending on which account your friends are using, you can either invite them as B4B Friends (if they have a Back 4 Blood account), Steam Friends (you will have needed to friend them on Steam first, of course, and they will need to be online for you to add them here). In the Party tab, you can join a selection of random players.
How To Add Cross Platform Friends To Your Party in Back 4 Blood
To add cross-platform friends, click on the Add Friends button in the top right corner. Here, you will need to specify their user ID and click on search. In the Friends Request section right next to the Add Friends, you will see who has sent you a friend request. One last thing to note is that if you want to play only with friends, you will need to set your Privacy to Invites Only or Friends Only. Invites only means that only those who have received an invite from you can play, while Friends Only is open to all of the friends you have added to B4B. If it is on Open (by default), anyone will be able to join your game.
Back 4 Blood features multiplayer and co-op modes. A game that requires cooperation is much more enjoyable when played with friends. So, if you are intending to play with friends or your partner, we have got you covered in this guide. Let’s talk about everything you need to know on how to play coop with friends in the newly released Back 4 Blood.
To play with friends, you will need to go to the main menu of the game and select the “Social” option. After you have clicked on this option, a new menu appears in front of you. On this menu, you have the options like B4B Friends, PlayStation/ Xbox/ Steam/ Epic Network Friends, Party, Recent (Random players that you have played recently with), Blocked.
In this menu, you can go into PlayStation/ Xbox/ Steam/ Epic Network Friends depending on the device that you are using. This is where you can add new friends and see the friend requests from others.
You can queue up with strangers in Back 4 Blood and make new friends. But isn’t it more exciting and fun to play with pre-existing friends? You can play Black 4 Blood in Co-Op mode or multiplayer mode with your friends or partner and grind through the game.
Black 4 Blood has the option of crossplay, which means if you own a PS, you can play with friends who own Xbox. All your friends can be a single unit with you and stomp hard on zombies in this game.
This is all that there is to know about adding and playing friends and partner in Black 4 Blood. Need more help? See How to Unlock Cleaners, Errors and Fixes.
The launch of the upcoming video game Back 4 Blood is just around the corner and it is already gaining some praise from players who have early access to the game. It offers features that fans of zombie shooters love, playing solo and with friends with in addition to crossplay.
Here is the Back 4 Blood guide on how to play together with friends or go solo with bots, and how you can activate crossplay.
Back 4 Blood How to Play with Friends
At the start of the game, you will be able to get your own unique username. This will be used in order to play with friends from other platforms, which will be discussed further. After getting your username, you will now be thrust into a tutorial or you can just skip it.
You will now be on Fort Hope, which is your central hub. To add new friends to your friends list, open the in-game menu by pressing the Esc key on PC, Option button on PlayStation, and Start button on Xbox consoles. Click the Social tab and you can see the Add Friend button.
Click that and just enter the username of your friend on the textbox and then click add. You will have to wait for them to confirm it on their end to complete the process. You can also check the Sent Requests for those who have requested to add you to their friend list.
How to Play Solo
Players can go through the whole four acts (and a lot of chapters) in Back 4 Blood’s long campaign in solo mode with bots commandeering the other three characters. In one run, you can only play with four characters, the AI will be handling the rest of the Cleaners squad. So, how do you choose Solo mode?
On the main menu, click on the Play tab. It will show the different modes you can play in the game like Quickplay, Campaign, and Swarm. Just a quick rundown, Quickplay is where you can jump right into the action by taking over a bot in someone’s current run in the middle of it, Campaign is where you can start your own run and jump into the beginning or to which chapter you have unlocked, and Swarm is where you can PvP with other players.
Below those big three are Solo Campaign, Preferences, and Replay Tutorial. You will have to click on Solo Campaign to start your own solo adventure into this world of zombie madness. Just like in Campaign, here you can start your own run and choose where you can begin depending on which chapter you have unlocked.
Note: All achievements and supply line points have been disabled in Solo Campaign since all Campaign Cards have been unlocked at the start. You have the advantage of using all of it and create your own deck right away. Since achievements are based on the multiplayer aspect of the game, it has been disabled on Solo Campaign. In order to gain supply line points that could be used in Supply Lines or unlock the other four characters via achievements, you will be forced to play the multiplayer side of the game.
How You Can Invite Your Friends to the Party
There are several ways to allow your friends join up in your party. The first one is to head to the Hub Screen by pressing the Tab key on PC, the Touch Pad on PlayStation, and the Select button on the Xbox consoles.
You can also approach the military guy, Phillips, to open the Hub screen. He is in the tent nearby the big wooden gate. When on the Hub screen and on the Play tab, check on the right half of the screen where you will find your username on your platform and the banner you preferred can be displayed together with three other blank slots. Click on them to add your friends to your own personal party.
If you are already in the middle of a chapter and there is still an empty slot where a bot is currently controlling other party members, you can still add your friends to your party. Just go the main menu again and choose the Socials tab and check out the friends’ list if someone is online. Invite them to your current game.
If you find yourself not able to invite your friends to your party, then you might have enabled your privacy options so that no one else could join, or you are currently in Solo Campaigns.
How to enable and do crossplay
You can play together with your friends that are on other platforms like on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. Each account that users sign in to the game will have a unique username, which will be unique to that specific account only. This is one of the reasons why you can play together with other people on different platforms.
When you check on the Social Screen, you can see your friends playing or online. You can then add them to your party if you want to. On PC, that is the Steam Friends tab, on consoles, it will be on the B4B Friends Tab.
If you want to disable or enable Crossplay, you can go to the Preferences option on the Play tab screen and then toggle the option to turn on or off the Crossplay feature.
How to Play with your Friends Only
You want to play with your friends but you do not want other players to join in. In order to do this, you have to set your privacy options first on the Socials screen. Go there and check the lower-left area of the screen. It will show this: “Privacy: Open”. This means that you are allowing other players to join you regardless of platform or even if they are strangers.
Press P key on your Socials screen, press the Square button on PlayStation or press the X button on the Xbox consoles to open the Privacy screen. Choose between Open, Friends Only, Invite Only, or Closed. Open, we have already discussed, Friends Only is for your friends to freely join your party in the Fort or in between a run, Invite Only if you want to invite your friends to a party or a current run but do not want to let them join you freely, or Closed if you do not want anyone to join you.
Now you can start your first run on Back 4 Blood! Enjoy blasting off Runners and please do not shoot friendlies even if they are on your way!
Back 4 Blood launches on October 12, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
All zombie shooter games are most fun when you play with your friends.
This genre of game is a throwback for many people who used to play two-player zombie shooters in arcades — in real life, rather than over the internet.
Playing with friends in Back 4 Blood is almost a requirement, not just a nice-to-have, for anyone that used to enjoy this classic arcade style.
However, it’s not completely obvious how to invite friends to games in Back 4 Blood, or how to start a party with your mates. Don’t worry, we’ve figured it out.
This short guide will teach you how to play with friends in Back 4 Blood — even if you’re playing on different consoles or platforms.
Is Back 4 Blood Crossplay?
Yes, there is crossplay on Back 4 Blood meaning you will be able to play with your friends on any platform regardless of if you’re on PC, PlayStation or Xbox. You will all receive your own unique username when you first start playing the game. This is what you will give to your friends to add you.
If you are playing on the PC, you will automatically see your friends playing when you go to the ‘Steam Friends’ tab on the social screen.
Friends from other platforms will be seen under the ‘B4B Friends’ tab. This is assuming you have already added them as a friend because they will not show up if you have not added them yet.
How to Add Friends
To add friends, open the in-game menu (by pressing ‘Esc’ if you’re on PC). Choose the Social tab and you will see the ‘Add Friend’ button on the upper-right corner of your screen.
Simply click it and a text box will show up where you can search for your friend’s account name. This is the same username given to any player who started the game.
For friends who are receiving the invites, you will be able to see the requests here as well.
How to Invite Your Friends to a Party
There are multiple ways to invite friends to your party. From the play screen (where you choose what game mode to play) you will be able to see empty slots on your party.
These slots are interactable and you will be able to invite friends by clicking it and choosing who to invite.
When you are already in the middle of a game, your friends can still join you. Just press ‘Esc’ again to open the in-game menu and choose Socials. You will be able to see your friends online here and invite them to join your current game.
And when you are playing with them, beware of friendly fire!
If it is not working, you will have to set your privacy options as you might have closed your lobby accidentally.
Setting Your Privacy Options
On the Socials screen, you will see your privacy options on the lower-left area of your screen. It should say ‘Privacy: Open’. This means that any player can join your lobby at any given time including random players you do not know.
If you want to create a Back 4 Blood private lobby that will be exclusive to you and your friends only, you can press ‘P’ to open the privacy options and set it to either ‘Invites only’ or ‘Friends only’.
The “Back 4 Blood friends only’ option will give your friends the freedom to join your game anytime while the ‘Invites only’ will require an invitation to be sent so they can join you.
‘Closed’ is the option you’ll want to use if you’re a player who wants to play alone.
Conclusion
This will all seem very easy once you’ve learned how play with friends on Back 4 Blood, but everything is always only easy once you’ve been taught it.
Playing with friends, or at least good teammates, is important in this game due to the PvP aspect and needing players that can support you, heal other players, and lead you to victory.
